tNavigator 26.1: Advancing Integrated Modelling and AI Capabilities

At Rock Flow Dynamics, user feedback continues to drive our innovative technology, and our latest release delivers a robust and useful set of new capabilities across the full platform.

Enhanced AI Assistant with Expanded Connectivity

tNavigator’s AI Assistant has received a major upgrade in version 26.1, making it more powerful than ever before.

Support for External AI and Speech Models

The AI Server now supports integration with external large language models (LLMs) and automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems via the OpenAI protocol. This means users can:

  • Connect tNavigator to third-party AI services.
  • Customise AI capabilities based on project or organisational needs.
  • Leverage advanced natural language and voice interaction tools.

This open architecture ensures that the platform can evolve alongside rapid advancements in AI technology.

Implementation of Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Another key improvement is the introduction of the Model Context Protocol (MCP). MCP provides structured context to AI models, enabling more accurate and relevant interactions.

With MCP, the AI Assistant can:

  • Better understand simulation data and user workflows.
  • Deliver more precise insights and recommendations.
  • Improve communication between users and AI systems by maintaining context across interactions

Introducing the New IPM Module

Another addition in tNavigator 26.1 is the IPM (Integrated Production Modelling) module. This new module enables users to build comprehensive models that combine reservoir behaviour with surface network systems under unified control.

With IPM, engineers can:

  • Create fully integrated models that couple subsurface reservoir dynamics with surface facilities.
  • Simulate interactions between wells, pipelines, and processing systems in a single environment.
  • Optimise production strategies by analysing the full production system rather than isolated components.

This capability represents a shift toward more holistic decision-making, allowing teams to better understand how changes in one part of the system impact overall field performance.
