Rock Flow Dynamics Invests in Multi-Million Dollar Data Centre
On 1st April 2026, Rock Flow Dynamics opened our new data centre in Belgrade, Serbia. Designed to support our growing ambitions in high-performance simulation and software innovation, the facility represents a significant investment in both infrastructure and the future of energy modelling technology.
Computational Power
Spanning 1,000 square meters, the data centre is purpose-built to handle some of the most demanding computational workloads in the industry. At its core lies an immense processing capability powered by more than 30,000 high-performance computing cores based on the advanced AMD EPYC 9634 architecture. Complementing this is an array of 172,000 NVIDIA CUDA cores, enabling large-scale parallel computations and accelerating complex simulations. These are critical to subsurface modelling and reservoir analysis.
To support these capabilities, the facility is equipped with 6,400 terabytes of storage and over 250,000 GB DDR5 RAM, ensuring both speed and scalability in handling vast datasets. This combination of compute power, memory bandwidth, and storage capacity positions the data centre among the most capable environments for scientific and industrial simulation workloads in Europe.
Software Testing & Optimisation Facility
The primary mission of this new facility is to support the continued testing and optimisation of tNavigator. Known for our agile and rapid approach to software development, tNavigator requires immense computational resources to test new versions, validate accuracy, and optimise performance across a range of real-world scenarios. The Belgrade data centre will serve as a dedicated environment for these efforts, enabling faster development cycles and more robust software releases.
Our CEO, Vasilii Shelkov commented the new facility launch:
“This is a major step towards advanced technologies not only for our company, but for the whole of Serbia.”
Beyond performance, the facility demonstrates our long-term commitment to innovation in software engineering. By investing in cutting-edge hardware and infrastructure, we are not only enhancing internal development capabilities but also reinforcing our position as an industry-leading technology company. The ability to run large-scale experiments, stress-test new features, and iterate rapidly gives us a decisive edge in delivering reliable and efficient solutions to our global client base.
2026 Lookahead
In summary, the new data centre is more than just a technical upgrade – it is the foundation for the next generation of software development at Rock Flow Dynamics. With unprecedented computational power at our disposal, we are poised to push the boundaries of what is possible in reservoir management and digital energy solutions.
