Plume Dynamics: Influence of Geological Heterogeneity, Solubility and Grid Resolution on CO₂ Storage Efficiency and Trapping
📅 27th November @ 10am GMT
👤 Presented by Serkan Kulaksiz, Senior Reservoir Engineer
Understanding how CO₂ behaves in the subsurface is essential for designing effective and secure carbon storage projects. In this expert-led session, Serkan will explore how plume dynamics are influenced by key geological and modelling factors and how tNavigator can be used to evaluate and optimise long-term storage performance.
Webinar Overview
In this webinar, we demonstrate how tNavigator improves understanding of multiphase flow to support more reliable field-scale CO₂ storage design. We examine how geological heterogeneity controls vertical CO₂ plume migration, challenging the assumption that storage security relies solely on laterally continuous primary seals. By varying factors such as barrier continuity and brine properties, the study evaluates how composite confining systems influence containment and trapping efficiency.
