    Previous work in the energy industry has enabled a connection between static modeling and dynamic reservoir simulation under the control of an optimizer to improve an outcome. The outcome will typically be to increase production of hydrocarbons. A limitation with existing work is that the wells and surface network impose constraints on what a reservoir can deliver. These constraints can change the outcome.

    The Mega-Loop improves the previous work by:

    • Incorporating well and surface network considerations into the optimizer’s calculations to improve outcomes.
    • Using rigorous geology and full physics to deliver a robust solution.
    • Performing all the calculations and analysis in a single program, so users can analyze and understand all interactions using consistent units and data.
    • Optionally including economic measures that incorporate surface network considerations.
    • Utilizing modern computing infrastructure to deliver faster decision-making.
