Main Purpose of the Role

Rock Flow Dynamics is currently looking for a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic geologist to become part of our geoscience and petrotechnical team. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge on data acquisition, logging systems and geological reservoir modelling. This position requires an understanding of technical sales strategies. As a Technical Sales Geologist, the ideal candidate will be able to understand the psychology of each individual client, and tailor their demonstration and support to ensure a high quality and knowledgeable experience for the client.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical focal point during the testing of RFD geological modelling software by any client in Australia and New Zealand – onsite and remotely
  • Accompanies the sales account managers to onsite presale meetings to demonstrate RFD geological modelling software
  • Proactively scopes the technical solution required for prospective clients to address customer requirements ensuring appropriate technical support for the proposed solution
  • Participate in conferences, shows, exhibitions when appropriated and requested
  • Provides training to customers and employees when needed
  • Opportunistically pursues additional business development opportunities within Oil and Gas companies, and ensure these generated opportunities are effectively covered and followed by the sales team


Skills and Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of geological reservoir modelling tools (i.e. PETREL, SKUA, RMS, Decision Space Desktop)
  • Desirable knowledge on reservoir simulation tools (i.e. tNavigator, ECLIPSE, CMG)
  • Excellent Client-facing and internal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload to maintain high customer satisfaction
  • Must be motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to be a true problem solver: handle complex situations and deal with unexpected challenges independently and with a successful outcome


Education and Experience

  • Geology Bachelor’s Degree or similar
  • 2-10 years in a Geologist or Technical Sales Geologist position – with extensive software focus
